Cooperative job shadowing
The cooperative job shadowing offers the possibility of feedback on one's own teaching behaviour by an outsider. Blind spots can be uncovered and ideas and inspirations for the further development of one's own teaching can be gained.
The cooperative job shadowing’s partners can be colleagues or employees of our Center. Within the framework of the certificate programme, the one-time completion of a cooperative job shadowing and its documentation in a report is a mandatory component and entered with 8 units.
process step by step
1. Preliminary discussion
Participants: interns, employees of the ZHD
Documents to bring by the participants:
- Learning Outcome and Learning Objective of the supervised course
- Planning grid of the course
- General conditions of the course: room, number of students, examination performance, ...
- 3-5 Aspects to be focused by the visitor in the class and what feedback is desired
Documents to bring by the visitor / considerations:
- Notes in advance: What and who will expect me in the class and why? (Reflection on the content of the session and on the student group)
- Consideration of the student(s) in advance: What do I need to be able to do a great job shadowing? > For example: planning of meetings, information ab
- Discuss locally: Can the 3-5 aspects mentioned be sensibly observed?
Note: each person take both roles, so you have to bring all documents and considerations for both roles!
As a mentoring partner, both colleagues from teaching, as well as employees of the ZHD, can be requested.
2. Conducting the collegial internship
3. Arranging an appointment
Make an appointment for an exchange talk (at least 1 day AFTER (!) the job shadowing)
4. Meeting between teacher and students
Exchange of impressions of self and others perception.
5. Writing a report
8 - 10 pages (plus attachment)
Reference to the previously formulated 3-5 aspects
- What feedback did I get on it?
- What do I find special / remarkable about this?
- Which aspects would I like to work on in the following? What do I take for inspiration from the job shadowing?
Feedback notes and the documentation of the preliminary meeting are included in the appendix
6. Feedback
Email the report to a ZHD employee and arrange an appointment for debriefing.
7. Final discussion
Final conversation between teacher and ZHD employee.
8. Certificate of attendance and booking
As soon as the participation certificate of the KoHo gets send via in-house mail, the work units (AE) will be updated in the electronic registration system.
